Description

As you can see above, I like customizing my system with a certain theme, and right now my theme is SNSD's Galaxy Supernova..Yay!!..so here's a mini tutorial I like to share with you guys. Click on the picture to zoom.:)

So here are your options and what you need depending on what kind of folder icons you wanted to use. If you wanted to use the Non-live folder icons (the usual folders I submitted here) (e.g. Upper right picture) then FOLLOW OPTION NUMBER 1. And if you wanna try and use one of my live folder icon packs (e.g. bottom left pictures) then FOLLOW instructions in OPTION NUMBER 2. Option number 3 is merely a suggestion or a tutorial if you have that program I mentioned there installed in your system. You can totally ignore option number 3 if you want. Enjoy:)

1. Option # 1..If you have downloaded one of my folder packs (non-live folder icons). Here is what you need to do. First of all, place the Icons(ICO Format) in a place where you can't accidentally delete it, that's important. After you do that then we are on to the next step. Right click on the folder you wanted to change, click on "Properties" then click on the "Customize" tab. Click the "Change Icon" button then browse for the replacement folder icon you want (ICO format, not PNG, the one you just downloaded). Select the icon then finally click Ok then apply.
NOTE: If you cannot see the the Customize/Icon tab, it just means that you are viewing the folder inside the libraries. Libraries are merely shortcuts.
Here's what you need to do when that's the case. You need to navigate the folders through windows explorer. how to do that?, simple, here's an example:
if you wanna change a folder in the music section go here Computer>Local Disk (C: )>Users>yourUserName(Admin)>MyMusic>..after navigating that, right click on the folder and select properties. After selecting properties, you will now see the "Customize/Icon" tab. :)
*Locate the folders you wanna change through process similar to the example I just stated, navigate the folders through your local disks (C,D: ).

2. Option # 2..Stardock Icon Packager (updated links)
* Use this option for Live Folders only*
Here's where to get it:
MEDIAFIRE
4SHARED

For those who are rich, buy it, here's the link @ www.stardock.com/products/icon…
If you're using Windows Vista, Windows 7 and 8, there is such a thing called "Live Folders". Live folders are folders where you can see thumbnails of your files within it. (Please refer to the left bottom picture). Those are our Live Folders, pretty aren't they? So what you need is a program called Icon Packager. If you have this program then this is what you need to do.(Please refer to the bottom right picture).
Note: this will change all your folders in the system except your library folders. You can only choose one folder design for this. Mine is Taeyeon as you can see..:)
*Added Info: You can also change the icons of your library folders with the help Icon Packager..:)

How to change Live Folder Icons using Stardock Icon Packager:

1. Open up Icon Packager.
2. Go to the Icons & Cursors Tab.
3. Below the tab selected, click on Folders
4. Change "Open Folder and Closed Folder" with the Empty Folder Icon you want.
5. Change "Live Folder (Back)" with the Live Folder (Back) icon that you want
6. Change "Live Folder (Front) with the Live Folder (Front) icon that you want.
7. Change "Live Folder (Data)" with the Full Folder (Data) icon that you want.
8. Click on 'Apply changes' on the right upper corner, and you are done.

3.Option # 3..Windows 7 manager @ www.yamicsoft.com/windows7mana…
This one is optional, basically I use this to change my library icons(top right screenshot), I have my Live folder icons(bottom pictures) for my regular folders so I use the folders that i uploaded here in Deviantart only for my Library folders eg.Music, Videos, Download etc. So anyway, in windows 7 Manager, there's a tab there called "Visual Customizer" It will open a new window, then select the library icon customizer. After that you can now change the library icons. Highlight the folder you want to change then click replace button then select a new icon(ICO format, not PNG) from your system. It's important to place your new icons in a place where you can't accidentally delete it. Then apply the changes after you're done.
Note:
Windows manager is the program of choice if you want to add another library folder like what I did with mine. I added a library folder named "Design Element". I also added "Compressed" and "Favorites"..Right clicking those library folders will not show the properties, personalize and change icon tab and those added libraries will not be shown in Icon packager too so you can't change it's icons through icon packager, you can only change it using Windows 7 or 8 manager..:)..I'll try to post a free link for the program later if you guys need it..:)
